Hello, Bonsai

Bonsai started from a simple wish: a place where everything in a life can live, written down once, in a format that will still open in twenty years.

Plain files, calm screens

Your space is a folder of Markdown files, organised the PARA way: Inbox, Projects, Areas, Resources, Log and Self. Bonsai reads those files and renders them as a native interface. Habit tables become habit gardens, four-state checkboxes become tasks you can tap, and timelines become timelines.

The interface is a pure function of your notes. No model output ever reaches the render path.

That rule keeps Bonsai honest. What you see on screen is what you wrote, every time, on every device.

Agents, invited in

AI assistants are good at helping you capture and tidy. In Bonsai they connect over MCP and work in the same space you do: they can capture what you said, add a task to a project, or update a note. Anything they write waits as a change for you to see, so nothing slips in unnoticed.

What’s next

We’ll use this blog to share how Bonsai grows: design notes, new clients and the small details that make a notebook feel alive. Thanks for planting a seed with us.
